Exercise: Journey On Relaxation

To begin, the narrator’s voice and background music was very soft and calming which brought the autogenic relaxation technique full circle. Before starting the exercise, I was starting to feel the muscle tension form in my upper shoulder and lower neck area. During the exercise, I was able to visualize the blood moving to my arms and hands which made them feel heavy, warm, and a little tingly. While the exercise used deep breathing, the focus was set more towards the circulatory system instead of diaphragmatic breathing. Near the closing of the exercise, when asked to re-acclimate with my environment I felt happy and relaxed which was wonderful because the tension in my shoulder and neck area was gone. Overall, I would definitely use autogenic therapy again and is an ideal way to take a 15 minute retreat during the day.
