Report Card: Mind-Body-Spiritual Wellness

To begin, overall I would grade my mind-body-spiritual wellness as a “C” or 5 out or 10. First within the aspect of my physical well-being, graded as a 6 out of 10, two goals that I would like to achieve is eating healthier and increasing my physical activity. Strategies that I could employ to achieve a higher quality physical health are reducing the amount that my family eats out after sporting events which is two or three days per week. I would like to reduce it to one day per week. Also, I would like to increase the amount of physical activity that I am currently doing by transitioning my length and times walking the dog to jogging with my dog. Second my psychological well-being, graded as a 5.5 out of 10, has improved drastically. However, a goal that I would like to implement is taking a break from the computer every 45 minutes that I am on it. Currently, I am practicing different meditation strategies to reduce the over stimulation to my mind and tension that comes with being on the computer most of the day but I feel that it is more of a reactive measure at lunch or the end of the day instead of a preventive measure. My hope is by setting a timer for every 45 minutes I can do other chores needed to be done, do my stretching exercises, and incorporate a 5 – 10 minute mediation period to prevent over stimulation and eliminate my symptoms that are caused by stress. Lastly is my spiritual well-being, graded as a 4 out of 10, I believe I am on the threshold of moving from the sensorimotor to the witnessing mind. My goal is to improve my emotional intelligence so that way I can observe and then take part in a situation instead of giving a knee-jerk reaction which is not always helpful. An exercise that I can employ would be walking away from the situation, if possible, until I have assessed it or counting to 30 instead of 10 allowing myself time to consider my thoughts and feeling and handle them intelligently to allow for a situation where both parties come out victors.
